Certificate Course - Review of Legal Aspects - Module 3

This one - day course will be held twice in 2008 and has been designed to help delegates who are taking the ABFA's Distance Learning Certificate course. Financial Analysis

This new fantastic one - day course is aimed at Client Managers, Risk and Operations staff and new and existing sales staff. The course will benefit any staff involved in assessing and monitoring the financial performance of prospects or clients, who want to familiarise themselves with the tools and techniques of financial analysis. A fair understanding of profit and loss and balance sheets is essential.

The course was the result of a CFA, IFG and ABFA collaboration and offered a comprehensive programme covering every aspect of Asset Based Lending. The course is designed for staff within companies working in or planning on entering the Asset Based Lending market.

This two - day course is suitable for new and recent entrants into the industry, and is appropriate for staff employed at all levels in any discipline, with less than 12 months industry experience.

Legal Aspects of Receivables Financing

The Law governs invoice financing like every other commercial activity. This course examines the rules under which we operate our agreements and provides the invoice financier with the knowledge of the legal rights needed to operate effectively. During this course we will be concentrating on English law.

This course is aimed at Business Development/Underwriting, Credit and Risk personnel with a minimum of two years in the industry. Delegates will look at MBOs, MBIs, acquisitions, financial assistance and the whitewash procedure amongst many other topics.

Recovery of Distressed Situations

In order to manage a recovery strategy effectively it is necessary to understand what happens when a company becomes insolvent and what options are then available to the company. This course will consider the various forms of insolvency arrangements and the effect these would have on an asset-based lender. (Please note this course has previously been refered to as Rescue and Recovery Options.)

Stock as Collateral for Lending

This course is aimed at New Business Development, Risk and Underwriting and Client and Portfolio Managers who are engaged in, or who are considering, lending against inventory. Delegates will learn how to identify new business opportunities, where the risks are, the risks and benefits of different types of inventory and inventory appraisal.

Working with Company Accounts

This course will show delegates how to use the key financial statements to assess the strengths and weaknesses of an organisation in order to assess risk and to set credit limits. It will help delegates select the appropriate ratios for their own industry sector using practical examples and exercises. This course will benefit those involved in new business or operations with some knowledge of accounts.
